This doesn't answer your question, but last time I was at the dealer the retail on the VW coolant was about $25. This was not in Autobaun packaging but actually said "VW/ Audi" coolant. It was the blue stuff. I have bought Autobaun at VW Dealers as well. I think I got it discounted at about $14 a gallon because I was a list member and bout it from Rennie the parts maanger who is also a listee--or was.

A possible to your solution is call a VW dealer like Kamelback and ask what price they would sell you the coolant for and "demand" or shoot for that price from the VW dealer.

Like I said I realise I'm not answering your question. I don't know about the "3 prices." Sounds like something VW would do. The price breakdown could be:

Teir 1: full retail price Teir 2: full retail price Tier 3: full retail price ;)
