Edward,
I considered mounting where I can see it when I drive too but ruled it
out for a number of reasons:
1. The front cabin tends to get direct sunlight. This will cause
artificially higher internal temperature reading. This will be the case
event if you take care to mount in the shadow of the dash. The black
dash have so much temperature rise from solar gain the heat will
transfer to the thermometer.
2. The access to both aux and primary battery wiring is readily
available on the kitchen cabinet.
3. I then to be more interested in the cabin temperature when I am
stationary because this is when you have less temperature control (no AC
or forced air cooling). I mainly want to know the cabin temperature from
solar gain that it does not get dangerously hot for my cat. I also like
to know how well my furnace maintain a comfortable temperature.

I like that! $15 seems like a bargain for this item. I have a smaller
radio shack in/out thermometer in the van, and have the outdoor sensor
in the fridge. I have just been laying it on the floor between the
driver's door and seat. I have been thinking about where to mount it,
and am considering just above the driver's door. I'd like a place that
I can see it while driving or camping with the front curtain in place.
The voltage measurement is a nice bonus, and per your test, seems pretty
accurate. an on-off-on toggle switch would be allow it to read from
both batteries or be turned off. Thanks for the info and write-up on
this item. Edward
