Ok, I think I have about done it all now.replaced all plastic parts for tranny shifter.adjusted the linkage (like 400 times) topped off tranny, you name it.
I have a suspicious problem.the shifting problems still exist.hard to get into 2nd primarily.difficult engaging 3rd and 4th is eh.ok.but only while moving.at a stand still they do not. I can easily shift into all gears from a stand still with motor running. I decided that maybe the torquing of the motor may "shift" my ability to get the thing into gear properly.
I investigated and see that my motor mounts on one side appear to be separated.big gash..and on the other side looks to be missing part.I am going to replace them.let's see how it goes from there.I seem to remember that on one of my jeeps I had similar problems.when the engine sat in one position (motor mounts like GONE) I couldn't get it into first.
I will let you all know how it goes after replacing these parts.
