Marc, right on. Neumann mics are lovely-sounding instruments. As you
say, it's all a matter of one's priorities.
"Festival camping". Now that's a new phrase to me, and one that makes
perfect sense. I confess I have never camped festivally. The first Mrs
Elliott is on the board of directors for Burning Man, and while I've
seen and read many tributes to that festival, it doesn't appeal. This,
perhaps, being among the reasons why she and I are no longer married.
At the other end of the spectrum are the various gatherings that I read
about here and on other Vanagon-specific sites, those centered around
old scudders and scudderettes (my and the third Mrs Elliott's age range)
located, generally, at campgrounds with manicured lawns and asphalt
parking strips, giving the appearance of city parks, and which provide
entertainment like Bluegrass music. No disrespect to teh bluegrass, but
two nights ago I was at a hip-hop concert here in Bend that lifted the
top off the building.
So -- I'd dearly LOVE to hear about festivals in the PNW (Pacific
Northwest) where a fellow, and possibly his bride, if she was willing,
could go, uh, festivate? Fest? Feast?
(Pity that "Friday" and "festival" are not etymologically related. It
really would make a lot more sense.)
