I had to say something. I lived in a truck camper for a summer. When I was kayaking pro and shooting videos. Unless you get a contractor-work camper shell forget it, your back will hurt, anything you need or want will be upfront, hard to get to or buried. Your nice gear will be trashed. Your wet gear, leaking cooler, and the smell of coleman fuel will always be with you. It's alright for weekend trips, but man what a backbreaker. Also every once in a while it would be nice to have "some company". A nasty truck-car ....makes it a little harder.Yeah the Westy is work, but hey it's a VW. If you are serious get a full size van with a diesel. Make a bed, put it some shelves. Getting to your stuff is a big deal when living in your car.

I've been there...done that...trust me.....your don't want the car or the even the pickup route.....1 month in to it...you will want to slit your wrists....
