Go to http://www.adireaudio.com, click on mobile audio, then choose the "Shiva". It is an excellent sounding sub for a great price of $125 (includes shipping. You can get it from http://www.acoustic-visions.com/~acoustic/products/subwoofer_drivers/adire_shiva/ or http://www.sound-foundations.us//catalog/product_info.php?products_id=8 as well. I got my Brahma from Sound Foundations. My shipment was delayed but Seth ad SF kept me informed.

For the price, it will be very hard, maybe impossible, to beat this sub! It requires very little powe compared to other comparable drivers. This is what I plan to install in my vanagon. Right now I have an Alpine Type S 8" in a bandpass box. It pretty much sucks. Occassionally, with the right ghetto music, it booms. Musically, I am not happy with the tiny alpine. The box is huge. Hey, it came with my van. I think 150 watts might be a little light but I powered a 10" boston acoustic ralley a few years ago with 75 watts and it was beautiful. Sometimes I yearned for more but I always smiled when I listened.

I wanted to experiment with the idea of installing the shiva under the rear seat, directly in the cabinet, letting the cabinet be my box and fire it into the cabin. I would protect the back of the sub with a wire mesh grill and the front with a standard speaker grill. It may be great or it might stink but its worth a try. I'd like to relaim some storage space.

Another idea is to build the box such that you can open it. Using tool box or rack case latches and a rubber seal, why couldn't one place a wire mesh across the box to keep the speaker seperated from the back of the box and then store blankets in there? Again, this is all experimental concept but we have a unique situation where we have this huge box that is just begging to house or be the sub enclosure but I hate losing this awesome storage.

The most obvious alternative is, of course, a single 10" in a sealed enclosure. This will rock your world and require minimal space.

Lastly, but most important, amp your primary speakers. Don't rely on head unit watts. They are weak. Use one of those 150 watts to power your regular speakers or get a 4 channel from a pawn shop or ebay...

Keep us posted!
