I think you need to contact Petronix before you go any farther. I bought a Compufire and they don't make one for a 80-83 Air Cooled Vanagon. The VW parts vendor said it fit ............. wouldn't take it back. Compufire wouldn't warranty it either. Needless to say I got cheated and I'm still pissed after all these years. If you grind the bottom off the rotor it will scrape the sender and void your warranty.
