Heh. Yeah, the Bentley has it all, but non-mechanics sometimes have trouble troubleshooting with it because it assumes a certain amount of mechanical knowledge and/or access to unusual equipment* to start with. It often starts with the notion that you've already FOUND the problem. This is all just wishful thinking, but it would be neat to have a database of symptoms which suggests a list of possible causes and how to find out which of those causes are the culprit. A decision tree sort of thingy that points you to the right pages in the Bentley. It sounds like a simple project, but I know it would turn out to me bigger than the Bentley itself.

*for example, the factory manual for my old '78 Datsun 280Z has a detailed section on pulling the head. Step one is "remove engine and transmission and put engine on engine stand (see section XYZ)". Yeah, sure. No problem.
