You know the one, almost impossible to get to above the spare tire. My cabin has had heat on full blast for two years now as I've been reading the list, dreading the day. Good thing the AC has worked as well as it has to counteract the heat... and of course the rest of the solution is to replace those leaking foam seals, but that's for another day.

I found that the secret is to pull the heater vent/cover inside the van, remove the hose connection at the heater core, and lower the whole thing down far enough so you get get pliers on those clamps and more them around easily by pushing the hose down through the rubber grommet pad. But then there's that #%#%$^ cable that won't let it go but an inch or so... I found a pretty easy way around that, too, by releasing the cable at the slide controller, then lubing the rubber grommet pad with liquid soap and pushing the whole thing...including the oversized cable protector that you wouldn't think would fit through it... down about a foot. Made getting the old valve off and the new valve, cable, clips and clamps just too easy.

I thought I'd be at it all weekend, but the system's bled and I'm ready for a test drive.

If this is common knowledge, someone let me know. Otherwise I'll detail it for the archives. I took some pictures while I was in there, too.

Jim
