I own a 1999 Passat 4dr in addition to my 1991 Westy. The Passat  has over
60K miles and has been the best VW I have ever owned. The one exception is
the radio/cassette player which has been replaced 4 times and it still
goes out on AM. The car is a 4cyl 4 speed and gets over 28  mpg highway
with the air on and has amazing pick up due to the turbo. Im a big guy
( 275 lbs) and have plenty of room in this car and even with my seatback
exteneded my rear seat passengers have more than enough room.  The trunk
on the 4dr is enormous! I would highly recommend this car  to anyone and I
intend to buy another one myself probably the wagon this time.
