It time to remove the rosey red glasses and realize that three vanagons out of spec are nothing compared to millions of trucks and SUVs puking out a higher percentage of crap into the air than cars and vans. There is not any way that anyone can consider that to be fair, and equitable. The environmentalists takes the easy road, and nit pick a few cars or vans, and then tell us the government is working for us, to help us, and is only doing it for our best interest and for the trees....... What a load of balony... -------------------------------------------------------

being an environmental leaning individual myself i can say that i think a large percentage of the environmentalists are flakes. most of them have no practical knowledge about what they try to critique and regulate. i feel thats primarily the fault of our current educational system in broad terms. we think that if you read it in a book you know "jack shit" about it and in reality you don't. you see that here on the vanagon list, the debate between the people that read such and such here or there arguing with the people that actually turn wrenches on a regular basis.

the government is in a broad sense is a power trip organization, just like a great deal of the cops out there in my opinion. that said there are also people in those lines of work that do it because they care and because in their hearts they feel its the right thing to do given the situation. also because of the way that the government works very good ideas can come out as very bad implementations. to some degree thats the risk you take with "give and take" politics.
