Jim, So, your from your standpoint, any improvements and/ or update to the Vanagon are taboo, and are a value robbing item's? There are volumes of updates to Vanagon's to make one's life easier and the vehicle more efficient. I have found many worthwhile idea's and "making life easier in your Vanagon" on this list as well as other's. For your pleasure go to Allistair Bells web page. I found many updates there from many folks who have decided to make life better in their vehicles of choice. And some good one's there are. I highly doubt that a concealed brass ball valve to eliminate heat in the interior of anyone's Van would be a detriment to the vehicles overall resale value. In a matter of fact I believe that the new owner if you sold your's would more than likely thank you for being so thoughtful. Possibly even blow you a kiss.

After owning the car from new, through 190,000 miles, I have managed to keep everything "stock" and original. I have no doubt that an installation such is this is not a smarter way to go, but in the end I think the car is worth more ($20, maybe?) if it's kept original. Just my thought. Jim
