Yes that hole to the evap valve should be partially blocked. You should hear the valve open when the throttle is opened and close when the throttle is closed. Also on the 1.9 engines the port is also used for the distributor vacuum advance.

Hi all.

When idle stop screw is set correctly, should the throttle valve be blocking the EVAP (canister purge) hole in throttle body?

I removed a small divot worn on face where stop screw rests. This divot would allow the stop screw to compress my 0.076 mm feeler gauge a little and leave a dent.

The idle stop screw had red adhesive keeping it in place. I am checking, resetting this screw and will reapply adhesive of some kind.

Possibly moot given the throttle body wear but it seems to me that the valve is thick-ish at that point to stop a vacuum from being applied to the EVAP canister purge valve.

Thanks

Neil.
