Really? I'd actually heard of one failing before.

How much weight did you have on it before it failed?

What failed, the loops welded to the brackets? The brackets bolted to the VW frame? The bolts attaching the brackets to the frame? The bolts attaching the hitch to the loops? I guess I'm asking if it was the welds that failed or the hardware.

Was it a Gowesty hitch? How did the middle bar that bolts to the mustache bar hold up?

I'm really curious. I have the loop mounted hitch and I don't carry and real heavy loads and have never had a problem but I am curious about your actual failure. Thanks!
