In my mind, not likely that the 10mm stud got bent, or can be easily bent. Sure sounds like an aftermarket part that does not fit really. ( not that uncommon all all, in my experience. 'Most don't' I could almost say ) ..

a die grinder with a small bit on it is perfect for removing a little material from the side of a hole or slot.
