I haven't been camping in my Porsche yet but this is the way I see it.
#1) 33 MPG at 80 mph.
#2) 600 Miles before fillup with 21 gallon tank.
#3) Front seats recline fully in case tent blows away in rain storm.
#4) Already have a two person tent, coleman heater, coleman LP stove,
coleman lantern.
#5) The no see-ums screen in my tent is just as tight as the Westy screens.
#6) Tent is easy to turn towards the prevailing breezes just like a Westy.

I just want you to know that you're breaking the Vanagon List rules if you
quit before you spend at least the purchase price of your Westy before you
toss in the towel.

From the expenses that Larry had on his Westy purchase and the Repairs he
probably could have made his trip for less money in a Taxi Cab.
