Hi Molly,
Welcome!
Where are you located? From what I've seen, $13,900 would be a tad high on
the east coast - but from what I've heard it would indeed be exorbitant on
the west coast. The one you're looking at isn't a synchro, is it? They
cost a lot more.
Is it on its first engine, or a new one?
I got my first Vanagon last November and definitely still behave like a
newbie (read "non-mechanic") on this list. So I'd say all questions are
fair game. Do you know about the searchable list archives? They are at
Vanagon.com/archives, I think - but no link to them from the vanagon.com
home page so it's not obvious that they exist. (If I had the wrong URL, you
can get to them by googling "Vanagon.com archives.") For some questions
it's good to start there before you post. Not that I always do! But
sometimes you might get an annoyed "check the archives first!" reply from
some of the oldies. E.g. on dual batteries, basic care and feeding of your
refrigerator, and a few other things.
Good luck!
Joy

:::Hi list--
