I dunno' what vehicle windows are made of these days (or even back in those days when our vehicle windows were made). I'd be inclined to try vinegar before I'd try steel wool, but I'd be cautious with either one. Or, I'd go ask for ideas at my FLAPS ..
Steel wool can be used on glass if necessary however ONLY use GRADE 000. Anything coarser can and almost certainly will scratch glass for good.
