New guy couple of things -
Not a complete waste of bandwidth - as I do have a real question - but
first:
I've been a member of a number of different sorts of email groups -
cars, music, motorcycles, bicycles, etc - Just wanted to give 2¢ that
this group really stands out above the others I've been in. Good on
topic content (other than this post - ha) and a wealth of experience
out there that I could never find here in Roanoke, Va (but for Pete's
sake would someone say "Hey! I'm in Roanoke Too!") And a sense of
camaraderie that you don't see in these listservs very often (like the
post snipped below - too cool - especially if the group here can
actually help.) If anyone notices me posting something that takes away
from those positive aspects please don't hesitate to correct me
off-list and I'll straighten up.
Ok vanagon content - In a reply to my headliner question Doug in
California - who happens to be a very skilled
interior-refurbimisher-type - mentioned that he "replaced his pop-top"
and it occurred to me that I should probably do that - as a previous
owner partially painted my pop-top with a brush, and replaced the
skylight with styrofoam and gooped it in with silicon. (a bit of a
rescued vanagon she is...) The question is two-fold:
Anyone got a pop-top around that they need to get out of the yard?
and barring that...
Is there a resource I haven't come across yet for (being ridiculously
specific) vanagon junkyards in the Roanoke, Va area? (Hey! I'm in the
Roanoke, Va area too!) or maybe the surrounding area within my yet
fully determined "she-can-make-it-that-far" radius - currently about 2
hours...
Thanks a vanaton,
William in Roanoke, Va
Needing many parts for his...
