I wrote that Rebuild thing over six years ago after I found all kinds of pitfalls getting my Kolbenschmidt bearings, German rings and AMC heads at a fair price. Hope it saves you some money and by the way get a copy of Tom Wilson's book " How to rebuild your Air Cooled VW Engine".
