There's glass and there's "glass". I dunno' what vehicle windows are made of these days (or even back in those days when our vehicle windows were made). I'd be inclined to try vinegar before I'd try steel wool, but I'd be cautious with either one. Or, I'd go ask for ideas at my FLAPS ...
