Subject: Dash lights, tach and temp
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

I have an 85. The dash lights went out. At the same time, something strange happened to the high beam indicator. When the headlights were on low beam, the high beam indicator came on, and it went off when I switched to high beam. Then the turn signal indicator stopped working. All this was only on the dash. The signals and headlights themselves continued to work.

I found the plastic shell of the dash module to be badly deteriorated. Because of this, and that the speedo was indicating over 50% faster than actual speed (40 mph showed almost 70 mph), I decided to get a replacement dash unit.

I found one for an 1986 that has a tach and put it in. The turn signal indicator works now. The dash lights still don't work and the high beam indicator doesn't work at all. In addition, the tach is not reading and the over-temp warning light blinks continuously, even when the engine is stone cold.

Any ideas? It's about the only thing driving me nuts about this van. Thanks.
