Subject: Advice on installing a battery isolator and wiring please
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Greetings listees,

I'm in the midst of attempting to install a Hellroaring Technologies non-diode battery isolator in my 83.4 wasserwesty. You can check out their website here http://www.hellroaring.com/rv.htm (the second diagram, the 'Basic Auxiliary Battery Isolation is the one I'm using) to see their suggested install diagram.

Essentially the isolator is supposed to attach to a fuse from the alternator (as do all the vehicle loads such as headlights et al.) on one side as well as to the positive side of the Aux battery, with a fuse in between. This all makes sense to me. Where I need some help is locating the appropriate places to wire into the Vanagon Westy... Do the positive cables attached to the Batteries have fuses on them (other than the fuse panel) or would I be better to add fuses (if so, what amp rating)? I'm not terribly proficient at interpreting the physical locations of wires and fuses and such from the Bentley wiring diagram.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers,

Kirk Hockin 83.5 westy 'Ariolimax'
