Subject: Propane tank and GoWesty
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed

My propane tank had a leaky valve so I removed it and took it to suburban propane. The re-valved it and told me 1) it does not need to be re-certified and 2) horizontal tanks do not need the OPD (?) valve, they are exempt.

While I was in morro bay, I broke my p-trap on the sink. I called GoWesty and they had a kit - trap to floor drain (with cap) for $20, they said they would be there at the shop till at least 6p (it was friday) so I sped down there. Imagine, a VW shop that sold and worked on just Westys, it was a little bit of heaven. There were 6 vanagons and 2 euros for sale in front, their shop had many bays to vanagons in various states of restoration, from a few parts vehicles to a few fresh from the paint shop. The shop itself was IMMACULATE with 8 or so hoists, it was after closing - so the mechanics were having a couple of beers. After I got my drain (and a front table leg and a drain/fill hose) I was leaving and it appeared that their staff drove mostly westys, a syncro, and a bettle. I picked up their catalog and it had some real good articles; Am I a Vanagon or a eurovan person, good and bad of years and models, Q&A, FAQs and a *ahem* tire&rim essay. It was really a great place to stop.

Volks cafe has done most of the work on my van and the guys there are REALLY knowledgeable, Peter always makes time to talk about what is going on with your van and recommending service intervals, things to do or not do, his love for the van really come through. It seems that the same might go for gowesty.

the only thing i have in common with these guys is I own a van (and my last name brings them money) peace steve volk santa cruz '87 westy
