Craig,
Thanks for putting that webpage together.
As I mentioned to Craig via pmail, the City seems to have overlooked
the major renovation under way in Stern Grove. The net result is the
parking lot which I have rented for our event is 2/3 closed. There are
only 23 legitimate spots left. I have reserved 40 spots. The good news
is the chain link fence that the construction crews have put up makes
blocking off the remaining spaces very easy indeed. Plus the fence
effectively allows us to double the parking spaces as the closed
roadway can now be used for parking.
Unfortunately, no other park users can use the parking lot if we reach
our capacity. Although we are rarely all there at the same time, I do
not intend on letting others park in the closed area. This will
prevent incidents such as what happened last year when some
inconsiderate park user drove at highspeed through the parking lot as
children were playing.
Here's the other deal, I don't think the toilet facilities will be
accessible due to the closure of the path to the theater. I will ask
someone to investigate this further in my absence.
I was chuckling when I read Building Permit Notice at the site. Anyone
can file a "discretionary review" or objection to the construction
plans if filed (and pay a $100 fee) before September 2nd. In other
words, they have to halt construction for 30 days. HAHAHA.... All
those earthmoving vehicles would have to be idled.
If I didn't think it would piss off the nice lady at the Department of
Park & Rec.
Cheers,
BenT
