I recently returned from a 3,000 mile trip in my '85 Westy and it performed well. Prior to starting out, I replaced a leaky front seal, clutch, tranny input shaft, and a bunch of associated parts. At the last minute, so to speak, I installed the Equus 9000-B Cruise Control that I got via E-bay over a year ago. What a delight! It worked like it was a factory option. I did put in a vacuum reservoir at the same time and, on the freeways between Maine and Tennessee, I didn't find a grade that would knock it offline. I did, of course, find some where I had to secure from cruise control by downshifting so as not to lug the engine. I had converted my Air Conditioner from R-12 to R-134a a couple of years ago and it's still holding a charge and cooling great. In fact, there were several times during the trip that my wife had me turn it off because she was getting cold. Outside temps were only in the upper 80s and lower 90s, though. Nothing like the Arizona desert. Anyway, the cruise control is the greatest thing since night baseball for highway travel and I'm really glad I finally got around to hooking it up.
