I was on a trip near Silverton, CO recently and that is the first time I've
had "local" mice take up residency. I could hear him/her at night. Likely
that it was in one of those water/tool packs used while mt. biking. I left
if on the pic nic table all afternoon, then just put it in the van on the
upper bunk without thinking to inspect it. But, I had also left the sliding
door open much of the day too.
I bought a mouse trap at the camp store, put chunky peanut butter on it and
bingo. Also, they get smart if there's more than one and will lick the
"bait" off without tripping the trap, after others have been caught.
Alternative: sticky trap. Using a piece of wood, wrap duct tape, sticky side
out, around the wood, put your bait of choice in the center so the mouse has
to walk on the tape ..... history.
If there is a small space leading from the left rear wheel well area where
ECU wires come through, that may also be a source.
