Bryan,

I assume you have the swivel seats. It is very hard to find anything that fit into the Vanagon battery box as it was design to fit the group 41 used in most Audi with no wasted space. Of all deep cycles Optima comes closest fitting except the top battery post.

I lived with the starting battery for years and finally decided to make the Optima fit.

Please note that if you decide to cut off the top posts like I did, don't do this to the starting battery because the rebuilt connection may not have enough current carrying capacity to handle the hundreds of amps requires to turn the starter. I strongly advise only do this mod to the aux battery where you pull (or charge at) less than 50A max.

Hi VW fans

I just put on some 15" SA VW alloy rims ("5 spoke").

With the rear drums in the back there is no way to get the lug nuts on to flush. What has anyone on the list done for this?

Longer rear bolts? But where do I get them?

Can I drive with them tourqued down, but not fully flush?

Just finished getting a turn-key install on a 140hp Tiico. My Aux battery was dead. Tried to find a deep cell to fill the back driver seat battery box. No way. Are we resigned to wearing out normal car batteries to have parked/camping power out put?

I have 2 amps, a woofer and 8 speakers total. I don't need to drowned out the neighborhood with noise, just enough for the casual weekend of camping.

Any Ideas?

Thanks, Bryan Duggan bduggan@mindspring.com
