If you've never heard it turn on then it might be defective or just old and worn out like mine was. I took the old fan motor apart and the armature was OK but the metal parts that sit on the armature were worn out making no contact.. I just replaced my fan last week with the help of Mark Drillock who invited interested So Cal people to a fridge clinic. My fan was toast. The new and larger fan works well. Available from www.valterra.com Or go to http://www.valterra.com/RV/rvmain.htm and choose refrigerator fans from the left list A10-2710VP Coil fan w/Thermo-switch for $39 (The price on the web site is old and not up to date.) Larger fan blades and quieter than the original.

In addition to cleaning everything we also had to remove and fix the heat sensor that had wiggle in it. It should sit directly onto the fins and mine did not.It is a flimsy sensor and we had to unscrew the side tabs and bend it carefully to rest with direct contact when screwed back on.

All in all the refrigerator removal was easy to do and worth the effort.

William
