OK, I've got to jump in on this one. I'm a long-time Westy owner who recently bought a 4X4 Element (but kept both Westys). As a camper, the Element will never equal the comfort or convenience of the Westy. However, it didn't take much to turn the Element into a simple camping vehicle. I'll use the Element on long trips (24 actual MPG) or when I need 4wd (and camping comfort is secondary). I'll use the Westy on short trips and when comfort and convenience are my primary concerns. By the way, at a little over $19,000 new (including 7+% CA sales tax) I think that the Element is quite a good value in a 4wd camping vehicle. OK, now I'll go put on my flame-proof suit :-) Lee Kouns 87 Westy 88 Westy 04 Honda Element
