Your fooling yourself. You have a leak. That is where the R12 that was in there went. Rather than wasting your money on the "new stuff" by having it leak out again, take your van to a qualified tech. Have them reclaim the rest of the R12 rather than polluting, find and fix the leaks, and recharge.
