The 12 volts from the battery is connected almost directly. The ECU completes the path to ground to fire them. The length of time (duty cycle or dwell) determines the amount of fuel delivered. They are triggered once/engine revolution. Auto parts sores sell "noid" lights which connect to the injector plugs to test the circuit. All of the injectors on the Vanagon are connected in parallel and fire simultaneously.

With the Digifant system, does anyone know what voltage the ECU sends to the injectors to get them to open? I'd need an oscilloscope to measure this and sadly I'm without.
