Perhaps to be more clear, at least in my 87 Westy, the Optima Yellowtop
with side terminals fits fine, bottom down...  No cutting of seat or top
posts required.  The seat does need to be removed for the install, but
the battery fist in just fine.  However, the seat will no longer swivel,
unless you remove or modify the existing battery compartment lid.  I
keep a subwoofer between the seat and cabinet, since I never swivel the
seat anyway.
