We have an Element and a Syncro Westy. We took the Element to Death Valley to tag team with the Syncro. It did great and its AWD works quite well. Ground clearance is definitely an issue though. As for its utility, if you put a pop top on one and a few tiny kitchen items, you'd have a badass ride. In stock form, it's still remarkably well thought out, reliable, gas miserly, powerful and inexpensive, with neat touches like waterproof seats, hoseable floor and rear seats that get way the hell out of the way if you need 'em to. We loooove it.

I still ain't gettin rid of my syncro tho. CD
