I was thinking that.. but i'm only planning this on my Turbo DIESEL
conversion...

so with a fairly non-flammable (unless compressed 22:1) fuel I'm not
worried about that..

and alot of car makers put the tanks right behind the rear bumper, on
thousands of cars unfortunatly

My 1976 beetle took a front end hit into a highway barrier, dented the
fuel tank with the imprint from the spare tire (thanks goto above)

used the tank till i found a 16 gal aftermarket beetle tank (still in
the front, behind the heavy bumper and fiberglass baja kit)

for fuel storage i'll take steel over Alumium and Plastic any day..
large percentage of cars are equiped with plastic fuel tanks.

there has to be a reason that most vehicles do not have fuel tanks
mounted right behing the front bumper & under the driver.. !!
