I found when I take the Vanagon Camper on a trip, I have to stop between every 3 and 4 hours for fuel, rest-rooms and meals. We seem to spend as much money on snacks and meals at fuel stops as we do for fuel. My wife doesn't like to sleep in the van so we usually ended up in a hotel anyway.

Now with the Wanderlodge, we can stay on the road as long as we want. My 33-foot coach gets around 8-9 mpg on diesel fuel and has a 235 gallon tank. I can pull over almost anywhere and stay as long as I want as long as there is fuel to run the generator.

I love my Vanagon, but won't ever camp or do a long trip in it again. Once you travel in a fully equipped RV, it's hard to go back to 'camping'.

BTW, I'll probably end up spending the weekend in the coach somewhere out of Frances' path. Depending on the amount of damage we get from this hurricane, I might end up living in it for a week, probably while its parked in front of the house. We went for a week without power after Charlie, I couldn't get the coach home because of all the debris in the neighborhood, I don't want to have to go through that again.

Good luck,
