We all have a different perspective on what ruining is. Cutting the top
posts for me is no big deal if you can repair the connection. I careless
about the warranty. I cannot remember when have I ever use the warranty
on a battery. Cutting the seat swivel is a big deal for me - something I
will never do unless there is no alternative.

I don't think you have to cut the posts off--in fact
you could ruin the battery doing that. You have to cut
notches in the seat swivel so the posts will pass
through when laying the Optima on its side with the
posts facing the front of the van.
