I think that Doug was talking about a slide-out like you would see on an RV, not just a pop-out window. It would be a pretty slick install, just cut out the side panel between the "B" and "C" pillars and replace it with a slide out section using an old sliding door as the skin. It would definately give you some more floor space in your camper; you could make the bottom bed wider too. My camper doesn't need one, it already has a full sized floor and rear seat/bed, else I would seriously think about doing it. I just recently became aware of the "double slider" vanagon here on the list as a member is selling one. Question, has anybody ever thought of or seen at burning man or wherever, a Vanagon Westy with a crank out? I am thinking the section between the B pillar and C pillar could "pop out". Seems like if it was done well it could be pretty cool, you could vent the fridge and stove straight up
