Most all oil based lubricants will attract dust and crud and graphite would be the wrong application. one thing you could try is a wax, this is just a thought it might not work or be any better then the grease or oils but it might be what you are looking for. It is worth a shot.

Hey All, I just purchased some 86 vanagon seats to put in my 83. Iım going to clean up all the rails on the van and the seats before the install, and Iım wondering if anyone has any thoughts on lubricants for the rails. Iım not a WD-40 fan so I was thinking of white lithium grease, but then I thought this might end up attracting crud. Anyone with any experience in this department?

Dave
