Hi Malcolm,

I don't think that a filter after the pump is a good idea. The high-pressure cut-off on the bosch fuel pump for a vanagon is about 110 PSI. If anything ever did get past the first filter to plug the second one then that second filter and the clamps and line back to the pump are going to take a huge pressure load. I don't think that would be pretty.

You do want to have a filter in front of the pump, this will protect the pump's innards. If you must have two filters inline I'd suggest you put both of them upstream from the pump.
