Sounds like the easiest solution would be a drivers side middle door on hinges instead of sliding, with the kitchen bolted into it so you swing it out and stand on the ground when prepairing your food instead of inside the bus .. Maybe with an awning on top for sun/rain protection

Somewhere IŽve seen something like it but then it was in the rear, you popped the rear hatch open and had the kitchen inside. It would probably keep the interior odour free but must be a PITA when the weather is bad - not to mention the lack of that first morning cup of coffee to wake you up when youŽre still in the sleepingbag

I also think it must have been in something else than a Vanagon, most things will be out of reach for anyone but Shaq OŽNeil (sp?) on top of the engine :-)
