Subject: Two Questions... Vanagon & LT
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

A internet impaired buddy of mine just bought an '87 Wolfsburg with auto tranny... Currently it will only move in reverse. He tried filling the ATF to the proper level, still no go... He currently has the transmission out on the floor of his garage. Went to the local library and did a search of the Vanagon archives and found this same question, but did not find any reply... What would cause this, and what can he do to fix it...?

Question 2...

I'm going today to look at a '79 LT 280 high roof camper with 1.65L (?) TD.... It has a couple issues... Has no keys... Which ignition lock cylinder does this use, an early Vanagon or late Baywindow (or something else entirely)..? Can anyone with a euro Ekta get me a P/N..? Supposedly the injector pump is leaking, too... Would this be the same pump as an early Jetta or Rabbit diesel...? If I buy this rig today I'll be looking for a shop manual for it. I saw a Haynes manual listed in the Motorbooks UK website. I've never bought anything from the UK before over the net. What is the procedure for buying something "from across the pond"..? Anyone in North America have access to the Haynes manual '79- LT and light truck...?

TIA

JonR
