Mercedes must be following the success of BMW's Mini which entails setting up a separate showroom for the Mini, away from the BMW. However the Mini often shares the same service infrastructure with the BMW.

mercedes had one of these at the north american international auto show. since i was working for mercedes i had the opportunity to poke around the car a bit. i liked what i saw but then again i like the spartan look of the element interior. anyhow mercedes is planning on bringing a version of the car into the US soon, i've forgotten the date at this point. i was able to get a copy of the press release information for the car and it was interesting. additionally mercedes said that they will be setting up an entirely separate dealer network for the smart cars. thats what they said at least.
