I also had floppy vent windows, and after learning from the digest that there is a screw you could tighten to fix the problem (even though it is impossible to turn) I had to look into it. After getting the door panel off I saw that the screw would indeed be impossible to turn using any regular sort of screw driver, but the head on the screw looked like it might be thick enough to grap with my vice grips. I know vice grips are bad and all, but using a very small pair (the smallest I have seen) I was able to tighten the screw. After getting the door panel off total time to tighten was less than a minute, and I was able to tighten as much as I wanted. Because I might have rubbed a bit of paint off with the pliers I sprayed a bit of primer in there after I finished. I tightened the other door's window, did an interstate test and they are as good as new, it is so much fun fixing problems that you have lived with for so long!
