Subject: Buses by the Beach Fall Campout
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hello Fellow Volks Folks,

It's almost time for everyone to be together again at "BUS BOO!" Buses By the Beach annual fall campout and Halloween before Halloween party in Grand Rapids, MI. It looks like we are in for another great turn out of Bus Pilots and VW lovers from all over the country and the weather person is saying it is going to be a nice weekend. It also sounds like we are going to have a lot of musical instruments coming for campfire jamin'.

If you have not made reservations please call the campground so we can plan for food and camping space. Call Grand Rogue at 1-616-361-1053 located at 6400 West River Drive, Belmont, MI 49306. Make sure you tell them that you are with Buses By the Beach group so they can group us all together. http://www.grandrogue.com/

We are trying something new this year and camping during West Michigan Living History and Educational Association presentation of Early America Encampment at Grand Rogue Campground. Visitors can view first hand what life in early America was like. There will be period craftsmen demonstrating their skills, including a blacksmith and a woodworker. Working with hand tools, they show how everyday implements were made in early America. At the Encampment, history buffs wearing authentic period clothing and living in period shelters, present programs throughout the weekend. Activities will include musket and cannon firing, men's and women's period fashion shows and tactical demonstrations. For more information go to: http://www.westmichiganlivinghistory.com/

Helpful tips for those coming this weekend:

1.. Plan for all of your meals except for Saturday night. We are having a Pot Luck Dinner in the Pavilion. We will be providing super dooper special sloppy Joe's for all those can sing Adam Sandler's Lunch Lady Song. You know, "Sloppy Joe.Sloppy.Sloppy Joe." Ok, we will still give you a sloppy Joe even if you don't know the song. 2.. Please bring a dish to pass for the pot luck. 3.. Alcohol is permitted, Obnoxious drunks are not. Let's have a good time but please be responsible. 4.. Saturday night is our annual Halloween before Halloween costume and site decoration contest. Bring a costume, decorate your site and lets have some fun! 5.. Park where ever it makes your VW happy. We do not have to park on designated parking spots. Try to avoid wet or soggy spots. We should be fine because everything has been dry but we want to respect the campground so we will be invited back again. For those that get there early on Friday there will be some spots on the lake. All spots are first come first serve. 6.. Electricity and water will be very limited. You might get lucky and get a spot next to a hook up. Try to plan for not having hookups so we can save those spots for those that absolutely need it. 7.. Please bring an instrument play. Don't worry about your ability level. We are not concerned about sounding good, just feeling good! 8.. Please do not bring firewood unless it is from local sources (Grand Rapids area). We do not want to contribute to the spreading the Emerald Ash Bore. 9.. Kids are welcome. Grand Rogue Campground is a very kid friendly campground so feel free to bring bikes or toys for them to play with. We will be located right next to a playground. 10.. AJ's Family Fun Center is a few miles away. They have go-carts, mini-golf, large video arcade, and other games to keep the family entertained. More info at http://www.ajsfamilyfun.com/ 11.. There are grocery stores, restaurants and many other retail shops close to the campground in case you need supplies.
