I was getting really annoyed with the tank suction problem, so I dug = around in the archives and found a few hints as to what causes it.

A quick change of the EVAP canister, and the associated valve, and all = is well. Thanks to the archives, I nipped this before it creased the = tank and caused a lead (expensive).

Ryan et al,

Often the symptoms of tank vacuum can be solved by removing the existing canister and giving it a #$%&ing hard shake to loosen up the carbon again. The valve can be cleaned out with compressed air and the various lines can be treated similarly or simply use a thin wire to ensure there are no blockages.

Replacing the canister & valve obviously will ensure you don't have problems in a long time, I just hope it wasn't too costly an exercise....although clearly still less costly & problematic than having to replace the tank.
