Hey man, From the Vanagon.com list: German Motors 2750 Lake Forest Road Tahoe City, California 96145 530.583.6220   Located in the Lake Forest subdivision  a few miles east of Tahoe City, very close to the municipal campground and beach at Lake Forest as well as a county park.

Ari Ollikainen (AriO@pacbell.net) writes:   A VW "authorized service" shop and experts on Vanagons (especially of the Syncro variety) as well as Audis. Their labor rate is more reasonable than in the Bay Area.   George Ritchey seems to really care about his customers' vehicles... We spent a bunch of $$ putting my Wife's '91 Carat right while vacationing at Tahoe, last year... a good thing we had two vehicles!   Report Date: Prior to Nov 2003   Robert Larsen (rslarsen@hotmail.com) writes:

I contacted German Motors regarding some work on my Syncro and was told that they are "trying to get out of working on vans." They expressed little interest in helping me out with my head gaskets, so I took my business elsewhere. I have heard nothing but good things about their work, but it might be worth checking in with them to see if they still work on vans or not.   Report Date: Dec 2003
