Subject: Ignition switch question
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hi all

On my 85 Jetta the stereo is wired in such a that when the key is inserted into the ignition (and not turned) the stereo will power up. I would like to wire my new stereo in my 85 van this way as apposed to; a.- the ACC lead off the stereo wired to the battery, thus having to use the power to switch on the stereo to turn it on and off. b.- the ACC lead wired to ignition in such a way that the stereo is powered on when the key is turned.

I would have thought that the ignition switches would be similair if not the same as both vw's are 1985. I have tried to find if there is a wire coming off the ignition switch that powers up when the key is inserted and not turned. (by means of a meter and no bentley) Can't seem to find one that powers up when the key is inserted?

any ideas...

thanks

ken
