My '90 Carat has just 150K miles now, but in the forseeable future, I'd like to up-grade to either the Subaru or TiiCo engine, and upgrade to 15" alloy wheels.

That would seem like an appropriate time to also upgrade brakes to disk in the rear.

Any comments ?
