My S&S system with the 'performance coating' is on its 4th year and some of the coating has begun to blister on the left front pipe. S&S will repair the problem as part of their warranty program, unfortunately it will require me to remove the pipe and ship it to them for recoating with an estimated turn-around time is 4-6 weeks. I can't afford to take Goldibox off the road for that long since she is my daily transportation so I probably won't get it repaired. The the pipes and my Dynomax muffler show no signs of rust but most of my fasteners do, the blistered section of the pipes has not started to rust yet. The S&S header set-up is no noiser than stock, in fact if you utilize the stock muffler/tailpipe with the system it has the same noise level. They do offer a system in mild steel, and also a ceramic coated version at a higher price on a special-order basis (both of which we sell, as an S&S distributor). The ceramic coated system is supposed to last longer, and be an alternative to stainless steel. I have not sold enough of these to be able to report with any certainty whether or not this is a worthwhile upgrade. Good luck,
